IIW appoints Lincoln Electric’s Harry Sadler

Harry Sadler, manager of military and shipbuilding at Lincoln Electric, has been appointed to chair the International Institute of Welding's Select Committee on Shipbuilding. Having spent over 40 years gaining expertise in arc welding methods and processes at Lincoln Electric, Sadler has a long history of involvement in technical societies. His leadership roles have included serving on the Welding Research Council Board of Directors and as Section Chair of the American Welding Society. He is also a life member of the American Welding Society. As the newly appointed IIW chair, Sadler brings a strong background in process solutions including welding equipment, welding process control, new welding techniques and the connection of these solutions with design, productivity, quality, cost and training. In his new position, Sadler has said he will look for innovative ways to increase quality and decrease costs for shipbuilders in spit of the challenges of an increasingly competitive market. Sadler had this to say about his new role: “My focus will be bringing to global shipbuilders the latest scientific and technical information on new technology and improved manufacturing methods and material handling concepts, all with the objective of helping them grow their businesses.”
