January 31, 2012, will mark 150 years since Göran Fredrik Göransson’s new company was formed in Sandviken, Sweden. During that time, Sandvik was first in the world to use the Bessemer process, which would revolutionize steel manufacturing.

Piping components in duplex, super duplex (and 31254) used in Norwegian offshore activities have been constantly under very tight scrutiny due to the critical nature of the installations. The Norwegian Authorities have recently increased the level of acceptability of production methods and testing extensions by releasing a new edition of the NORSOK approval which all manufacturers must eventually adhere to.

DeepOcean, part of DeepOcean Group Holding AS, has received a two year contract valued at approximately USD 60 million from Petrobras E&P Services. The agreement includes management, engineering, maintenance and repair of flexible pipelines and electro-hydraulic umbilicals recovered from Petrobras subsea installations in Brazilian waters.

FMC Technologies Inc. has signed an agreement with Anadarko Petroleum Corp. to provide subsea systems and life-of-field services for its Lucius project. The Lucius field is located approximately 275mi southeast of Galveston in Keathley Canyon Block 875, in water depths of approximately 7100ft.
